Meet Yaz

Yasmeen “Yaz” Duarte is a counseling intern completing the final year of her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She is passionate about helping children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, and other personal challenges with compassion, curiosity, and hope.

As a United States Army combat medic veteran and the partner of a United States Air Force pilot, Yaz brings a unique understanding of the resilience, adaptability, and challenges experienced by military families, first responders, healthcare professionals, and others serving in high-demand roles. She is also passionate about whole-person wellness and helping clients strengthen the connection between their emotional, physical, and relational well-being.

Yaz approaches counseling as a collaborative process where clients can safely explore how their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences shape their present-day patterns. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with attachment-informed, trauma-informed, and relational approaches to help clients build resilience, improve emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Yaz strives to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered as they move toward healing, growth, and a more fulfilling life.
